Actress & Pop Singer: Bonnie Somerville

Bonnie Somerville (born February 24, 1974 in Brooklyn, New York, United States) is an actress and singer who has had roles in a number of movies and television series, most notably NYPD Blue, Grosse Pointe, Friends, and The O.C., and The Inlaws. More bio; click here for link to TV.com - Interview from Stuffmagazine.com in 2005 - Yahoo®Movies - the-trades.com - MySpace Music site.

Born and raised in Flatbush,
Brooklyn by her mother and large Irish Catholic family. Bonnie started acting and singing at a young age, appearing in all the high school plays at Poly Prep Country Day School in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. She attended Boston College as a Musical Theater major, and left to move back home to New York to try acting professionally. At the age of 17 Bonnie had a development deal to sing her own music and sang with many bands in the New York city music scene. She was noticed by a modeling scout while waiting tables in New York and did some modeling in New York and Europe, only to return more focused on acting. At the age of 22 Bonnie moved to Los Angeles, she quickly had a band and then an agent. Her first major acting audition for television was for the lead role in CBS's mini-series, Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story (1999), in which she also sang. She now lives in Los Angeles.

Notable TV & Movie Roles: Filmography IMDb

Grosse Point - 2000-2001 - 17 Episodes:

Friends
- Season 8: 2001-2002 - 7 Episodes:
Bonnie also starred on the popular sitcom Friends as Mona, dating Ross in Season 8. Mona was a very attractive woman who works at Monica's restaurant and flirts briefly with Ross at
Chandler and Monica's wedding reception during the first episode of Season 8. She returns a few episodes later and goes out to a see a Ukrainian film with Ross. She shows genuine interest in the things that Ross likes to talk about. Even though she is forgiving, understanding and very attracted to Ross, incidents such as Ross changing his door locks after giving Mona a key, finding out about Rachel being pregnant with Ross's baby, an unpleasant encounter with Rachel's father, being continuously abandoned by Ross to take care of Rachel, and finally, Rachel moving in with Ross, causes her to end their relationship. She makes a brief appearance a few episodes later when Ross goes to her apartment to retrieve a pink (salmon) shirt he left there.
Her apparent last request to him was for him to "jump up [his] own ass and die."

The In-Laws 2000-2003 - 15 Episodes:
Character Alexis Landis - A lot of awkward situations can arise from a guy moving in with his wife's parents, especially if the father is Dennis Farina. It's hilarious to watch him react callously to his son-in-law's antics. Unfortunately, the show can use stronger writing. Farina is brilliant like always, and is the main provider of the laughs on the show. The actress who plays the wife is deliciously hot (that would be Bonnie). The most memorable gag on the show was during the Halloween episode, where Farina called a "meeting of the five families" in the neighborhood to discuss Halloween decorations. This of course was a witty homage to "The Godfather."

The O.C. - 2003 - 5 Episodes:
Bonnie
played Rachel Hoffman, a colleague of Sandy Cohen in Season 1:
Rachel is a former colleague of
Sandy Cohen in the District Attorney's office. She invites him to work with her in a private firm called Partridge, Savage and Kahn. Sandy takes the offer, and later Sandy's wife, Kirsten, finds Rachel and Sandy enjoying a drink, causing tension between Sandy and Kirsten. Rachel shares the case of Balboa Heights with Sandy, because the plaintiff is Caleb Nichol's company. While negotiating with Caleb, Caleb accuses Sandy and Rachel of having an affair. Some time afterwards, when Sandy and Rachel work until late in Rachel's apartment, Rachel flirts with Sandy but he rejects her advances. When the chemistry between the two fizzles out, Sandy and Kirsten attempt to set her up with Jimmy Cooper, but failed.

NYPD Blue Season 12 2004-1005 - 15 Episodes:
Laura Murphy was a character on the long running police drama NYPD Blue. She was played by Bonnie Somerville. Joining at the beginning of the twelth and final season, Murphy was a long term replacement for Connie McDowell after the character left to have a baby. Coming from the Application's Investigations unit, she was partnered up with Rita Ortiz and, initially, her new partner has problems with her flirting with fellow cops, including John Clark. However they quickly overcome any difficulties and by the end of the season are working as a good team. They are the only partners to say goodnight together to the new squad boss, Andy Sipowicz, at the end of the final episode.

Kitchen Confidential - 2005-2006 - 12 Episodes:
Character Mimi - A statement previously thought to be an oxymoron, Kitchen Confidential raises the bell curve for quality television. With no inkling of what the show is about, I watched the series premiere beginning to end, commercials and all, and was delighted with it through the credits. The show is handled with a directorial craftsmanship superb for television. Actors are kept within their boundaries, dialogue is quick but not rushed, and characters are at least likable. The exposition was presented neatly in the first block and gave sufficient personality to each character. A flair for stylish editing and freeze frames is arranged perfectly, and other technical qualities such as lighting, sets, and extras heighten the enjoyability of this show. As a whole, I am excited about watching upcoming episodes and seeing how the show progresses. Kitchen Confidential is a well balanced show that will be a serious contender for the Primetime viewing audience.

Singing:
Bonnie Somerville is currently working hard as a singer with her new group Band From TV. joining her in the lineup are Greg Grunberg of "Heroes", Hugh Laurie of "House" James Denton of "Desperate Housewives" and Bob Guiney of "The Bachelor". She was last seen starring in FOX's comedy "Kitchen Confidential", created by Darren Star, and based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name. Group was called The Battle of the Network Stars Band; now is called "Band From TV" - Bonnie's Pop Music MySpace page.

Modeling:
Bonnie was on the cover of Stuff magazine in May 2004, issue titled, "Girls of "The O.C." (2003)". More info and pictures on Stuff web site.
